Look out cupcakes! It looks like the new fad is pushing you out and making way for Gourmet Donuts.</div>

I've been hearing about these wonderful new donuts and couldn't wait to try them out. </div>
<div align="left">

<div align="left">
So, I headed down to Sidecar Donuts in Costa Mesa.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MdicXwtJ45Y/UjQIvKD9YZI/AAAAAAAAYSs/gWBtNTpIBlU/s1600/hgews.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MdicXwtJ45Y/UjQIvKD9YZI/AAAAAAAAYSs/gWBtNTpIBlU/s640/hgews.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
As I walked into the shop, I knew right away this was not your normal local donut shop.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
The smell was wonderful and the donuts were not your normal flavors. </div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
The staff greeted me with a big smile and cheerful "Hello". They were happy to explain the different flavors they had left to sell.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
Many of the daily flavors were already sold out. Some where in the back being made but wouldn't be ready for several minutes.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hqRDVGqgqUs/UjQIjb-i-II/AAAAAAAAYSU/2x1gzVzJIHo/s1600/etye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hqRDVGqgqUs/UjQIjb-i-II/AAAAAAAAYSU/2x1gzVzJIHo/s640/etye.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
I had other plans so I couldn't really wait, though there were some flavors I really wanted to try.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
I was told that they are known for the Huckleberry donuts. So, of course, I had to try one of these.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
Oh my! They were wonderful. Still warm and full of berry flavor. Not overly sweet. Just perfect.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
They had more of a cake taste to them. I think I could have eaten a dozen.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DuffLcp4t8Y/UjQIqtB6LUI/AAAAAAAAYSk/TeUdyWwXy7s/s1600/hdf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DuffLcp4t8Y/UjQIqtB6LUI/AAAAAAAAYSk/TeUdyWwXy7s/s640/hdf.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
Another popular flavor is the Maple Glaze topped with bacon. These just came out of the back so they were warm and super fresh. </div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
However, I wasn't feeling that adventurous right then so I skipped these. </div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rpFq_MZC5J8/UjQI3Ty9TqI/AAAAAAAAYS8/GqgbpfJ1H-Q/s1600/kgh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rpFq_MZC5J8/UjQI3Ty9TqI/AAAAAAAAYS8/GqgbpfJ1H-Q/s640/kgh.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
I was told that every two weeks they change the flavors they carry. Yet, the popular flavors remain all the time. Like the chocolate topped with sea salt. <br />
<br />
Who doesn't like a sweet/salty combination?</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
You can look on their web page to find out what the flavors are when you go.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c691Sgaoz_o/UjQIzjTgA_I/AAAAAAAAYS0/49HHbyqixSE/s1600/ftu.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c691Sgaoz_o/UjQIzjTgA_I/AAAAAAAAYS0/49HHbyqixSE/s640/ftu.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
Some flavors like the Cornbread with sorghum brown butter glaze didn't sound good to me at all. But, hey, if that was all they had left, I would have tried them. Who knows, they could end up being a favorite of mine.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Q0t62Yxtzg/UjQIf_U_Z9I/AAAAAAAAYSM/0uJAaA8x74A/s1600/dfgh65e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Q0t62Yxtzg/UjQIf_U_Z9I/AAAAAAAAYSM/0uJAaA8x74A/s640/dfgh65e.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
The Banana Pecan Streusel sounded wonderful to me!</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OGaW-D0S2Lw/UjQIcSHQneI/AAAAAAAAYSE/jSLJ8KYf2EU/s1600/45673.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OGaW-D0S2Lw/UjQIcSHQneI/AAAAAAAAYSE/jSLJ8KYf2EU/s640/45673.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
All the donuts are served warm. They make them in small batches every hour so they are fresh no matter when you show up.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
They use only the finest ingredients and it really makes a difference in the taste.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
The cost is much higher then normal donuts though. They run around $3.50 each. But, while that is a lot higher then normal donuts, you really can't compare the two.</div>
<div align="left">
<br />
These are much more filling then normal donuts. They really are more like eating a piece of cake or muffin. So when you compare the cost to a cupcake, they are not that high priced.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6MeTHEXpjIo/UjQQOjbVklI/AAAAAAAAYTc/aR0uCi3D9wo/s1600/54ws.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6MeTHEXpjIo/UjQQOjbVklI/AAAAAAAAYTc/aR0uCi3D9wo/s640/54ws.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Outside, in the parking lot was their darling truck. For those of you who remember the Helms Trucks that used to drive around and sell donuts and bread, it's like that.<br />
<br />
The back opens up and the drawers pull out where the donuts are. <br />
<br />
You can have them come to your parties or events. Wouldn't that be fun! <br />
<br />
I loved Sidecar Donuts and would go back again in heartbeat.<br />
<br />
I give them an 8 out of 10 stars. <br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span id="goog_534118691">They use only 100% white meat. Cook with trans fat free vegetable oil. They have no MSG in their dishes. Use fresh vegetables. Use low sodium soy sauce in their dishes. Have gluten free dishes.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span id="goog_534118691">I also noticed that none of their meals are over 500 calories, which is a great plus for those watching their diet.</span></div>

<span id="goog_534118691">I love good Chinese Food and have not been able to find to many places that I really enjoy. So I was eager to try this place.</span></div>

<span id="goog_534118691">I gathered up a few hungry people to go with me and try out Fortune Cookies for lunch. </span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
They have a generous list of lunch specials. I believe there were 29 items to pick from. All under $7.50.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Your meal starts off with your choice of Hot and Sour Soup or Egg Flower Soup. All three of us went with the Egg Flower Soup. The bowl of soup was only 42 calories.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It came out very hot. It had eggs, peas, water chestnuts and carrots in a flavorful broth. <br />
<br />
We all agreed it was very tasty. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Lgi4Q1uQYp4/UeRqTVfrF6I/AAAAAAAAYJw/Feed2pbYwCE/s1600/100_2949.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="420" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Lgi4Q1uQYp4/UeRqTVfrF6I/AAAAAAAAYJw/Feed2pbYwCE/s640/100_2949.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next we were served a spring roll. It had cabbage, carrots and celery and was wrapped into a spring roll that was lightly fried. The calorie count is 65 calories.<br />
<br />
This was very good. Sometimes spring rolls can be greasy or have a strange flavor to them. Not here. It was nice and crispy without being greasy. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So far, we loved this place.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TvMpN8qniuI/UeRqVVOXvDI/AAAAAAAAYJ4/_DwPMFtY9BY/s1600/100_2951.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TvMpN8qniuI/UeRqVVOXvDI/AAAAAAAAYJ4/_DwPMFtY9BY/s640/100_2951.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Jeff ordered the Chicken with Cashews. The cost was $6.69 and 386 calories.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The first thing we noticed is that is a nice large size for a lunch portion. It had all white meat chicken, mushrooms, green and red bell peppers, onions, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and of course cashews.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The sauce was a nice brown sauce that mixed everything together well. It did not over power the taste of the items but rather made them combine into a wonderful burst of flavor in your mouth.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There were plenty of cashews in this dish. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All three of us agreed this should get 8 out of 10 silver spoons.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oi8pJpsuVV4/UeRqWbXpgtI/AAAAAAAAYKA/QfTW9Yu_Ic0/s1600/100_2952.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oi8pJpsuVV4/UeRqWbXpgtI/AAAAAAAAYKA/QfTW9Yu_Ic0/s640/100_2952.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Trinity ordered the Crispy Orange Chicken. This meal cost $6.99 and has 290 calories.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is white chicken breast that has been lightly battered and cooked with chili peppers, green onions and orange peel house sauce.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We all agreed that this was the best dish we tried. The chicken had a nice slight crunch to it and the sauce was slightly sweet and slightly spicy but not over barring either way. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We all agreed this would be a 9 out of 10 silver spoons.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HCWmmeP-iMY/UeRqeWIZVCI/AAAAAAAAYKI/YgF5XbfNlTU/s1600/100_2956.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HCWmmeP-iMY/UeRqeWIZVCI/AAAAAAAAYKI/YgF5XbfNlTU/s640/100_2956.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I ordered the Veggie Chop Suey. The cost was $6.69 and only 135 calories.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This plate was loaded with a wonderful array of fresh vegetables. I ordered it without the snow peas or mushrooms. It had water chestnuts, broccoli, carrots, zucchini, bean sprouts and mini baby corn cobs. I was happy to see it wasn't loaded with onions. Every time I have ordered this dish at other restaurants it seems they give you so many onions and very little other veggies.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The sauce is a brown sauce and I have to admit, the first bite didn't seem to be that good. The sauce seemed to strong for light flavors of the vegetables. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
However, as it sat a little bit, the flavors began to mold together and it became quite pleasant.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I first ordered this, I ordered the wrong dish. I said I wanted veggie chow mein (which is something they don't even have on the menu. The waitress assumed I meant I wanted Veggie Lo Mein. The Veggie Lo Mein has veggies as well as noodles (which I didn't want). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When she served me I explained what I wanted to order and she figured out that I wanted the chop suey. She quickly took my plate back and within minutes she brought out my dish with the correct order.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I believe they cooked my dish up super fast in an effort to get it out to me quickly so I could eat with the others in my party. That may be why it didn't have a chance to sit a bit before I ate it and thus the strange taste at first.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All in all, the Veggie Chop Suey deserves 7.5 silver stars. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All the dishes also come with your choice of white, brown or fried rice. Your bill is brought to you with your Fortune cookies. The cookies were very good and better then most Chinese places.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All three of us really liked the food here. The service was wonderful. Staff was very friendly. Drinks were refilled without having to ask and we never felt rushed even though they were pretty busy during the time we were there.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
The decor is nice. Simple and Earthy feel. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
They also have a Sushi Bar that had several customers eating at. I asked them how it was and they said it was the best they have eaten. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Based on the food, prices, decor, staff and over all experience I would give Fortune Cookie 8.5 silver spoons and I will be coming back here for sure.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
One thing I really loved about this place is that it's a mom and pop restaurant. The owner is always on location and because of that I believe the staff seems to be working extra hard to get your order, keep your drinks full, your food served and the place is super clean.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I went with Maureen for breakfast and we both decided upon the Ohana Special. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This includes eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage and french toast.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6w3x-8vILIQ/Ud-bNjrDjYI/AAAAAAAAYHM/Hkh8fT6T4ME/s1600/100_2896.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6w3x-8vILIQ/Ud-bNjrDjYI/AAAAAAAAYHM/Hkh8fT6T4ME/s640/100_2896.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The portions are very generous. Unless you are starving and have a very large appetite, I recommend you split this meal with someone. <br />
<br />
But what about the food? Well, I guess I can sum it up in one word. Delicious! <br />
<br />
The hash browns were crispy outside and yet soft and creamy inside. Perfectly cooked. <br />
<br />
The bacon was ok. A little over cooked for my liking.<br />
<br />
The eggs were good but not much more to say about them since they were scrambled eggs. What can you really say about scrambled eggs?<br />
<br />
But the french toast is what was most impressive. It is made with large slices of Kings Hawaiian bread. Topped with butter, powdered sugar and syrup. <br />
<br />
This by far was some of the best french toast I've ever had. <br />
<br />
My only problem was I couldn't eat it all. One slice was all I could handle since I had already eaten some eggs, hash browns and one slice of bacon. I felt like if I ate one more bite I was going to pop.<br />
<br />
I loved how they serve your drinks in large mason jars. That way you don't have to keep asking for as many refills. Though they are more then happy to keep your jar full for you.<br />
<br />
The cost of this breakfast was only $11.25 and the drink was $2.15. I feel the cost was very good seeing how much food you get. <br />
<br />
They are only open from 7am until 3:00pm. Breakfast and lunch only. <br />
<br />
I'm looking forward to going back to try their lunch. <br />
<br />
I give Bread Crumb Ohana Cafe 7 out 10 silver spoons. I would gladly recommend going here but be sure to bring a big appetite. <br />

<br /></div>
Surfas Cafe is a hidden gem tucked away inside the Surfas Culinary District located in the fairly new SOCO shopping area.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CxRwkg2TUi4/UeCLxarSxJI/AAAAAAAAYIM/XX4xZP2EUNI/s1600/100_2932.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CxRwkg2TUi4/UeCLxarSxJI/AAAAAAAAYIM/XX4xZP2EUNI/s640/100_2932.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Before you step into Surfas you will notice the walk way has imprints of many different kitchen tools. Very cute!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UEvvj3ApnIc/UeCL0JiEI1I/AAAAAAAAYIk/JOzmRiBJBlY/s1600/100_2927.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UEvvj3ApnIc/UeCL0JiEI1I/AAAAAAAAYIk/JOzmRiBJBlY/s640/100_2927.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
If you walk in through the main door, turn to your right and you will see a large sign that says CAFE. That is where you want to go.<br />
<br />
You may get side tracked by all the wonderful items they sell though. This place is like going to culinary Heaven. You are sure to find whatever you are looking for and many things you had no idea you had to have.<br />
<br />
They also have a cheese counter, a deli, an olive bar and they offer classes. You must take some time to shop either before or after you your meal at the cafe.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-drDVckBnTAA/UeCLy8ppf5I/AAAAAAAAYIU/hnb3gq8Yers/s1600/100_2929.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-drDVckBnTAA/UeCLy8ppf5I/AAAAAAAAYIU/hnb3gq8Yers/s640/100_2929.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
If you don't want to explore the store (which I don't know why you wouldn't) you can walk right into the Cafe from outside. Just look for the sign that says EAT and go through those doors.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z1ajYGOxPUg/UeCLzpY3gqI/AAAAAAAAYIc/rpRyJGskwVY/s1600/100_2928.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z1ajYGOxPUg/UeCLzpY3gqI/AAAAAAAAYIc/rpRyJGskwVY/s640/100_2928.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The Cafe uses fresh produce from the weekly Farmers Market held outside in the parking lot every week. They also use items sold in the store.<br />
<br />
The menu for lunch is mostly salads, soups, sandwiches and pizza.<br />
<br />
You order up at the counter. The girl working there when I went was very helpful. She explained the different items, told us the top sellers and helped us decide what to order.<br />
<br />
Everything is freshly made so you will need to wait while your order is prepared and cooked for you.<br />
<br />
You can sit inside or outside on the patio.<br />
<br />
Timing is everything here. When we got here there were a few people eating but we were able to order right away and get our food quickly.<br />
<br />
However, we were there about 15 mins before the crowds started to pack in and a line formed quickly. This place is popular for lunch. My advice is to try to get there a little before noon or a little after to avoid the crowds.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b1x-eaWV-c4/UeCL4tiPPbI/AAAAAAAAYI0/sC_2kFVyZdY/s1600/100_2936.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b1x-eaWV-c4/UeCL4tiPPbI/AAAAAAAAYI0/sC_2kFVyZdY/s640/100_2936.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My friend Claire ordered the Roasted Veggie Panini. The cost was $7.95.<br />
<br />
It is a sandwich of seasonal roasted veggies, humus, Fontina cheese and served on Kalamata olive bread. Served with a side salad of greens and topped with some wonderful homemade pickles.<br />
<br />
Claire said it was a very good sandwich and she would be happy to order this again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--jhftcVaLYM/UeCL32OerqI/AAAAAAAAYIs/u-3RkWUXWw0/s1600/100_2934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--jhftcVaLYM/UeCL32OerqI/AAAAAAAAYIs/u-3RkWUXWw0/s640/100_2934.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I ordered the Cafe Surfas Tomato and Fig Panini. The cost was $7.95.<br />
<br />
It was roasted heirloom tomatoes (both red and yellow), marinade figs, taleggio cheese, pesto mayo and served on a roasted garlic bread. This was also served with the green salad and topped with a vinaigrette dressing.<br />
<br />
As I took a bite, fresh wonderful flavors exploded in my mouth. The juicy tomatoes mixed well with the sweet figs and gooey warm cheese. It was delicious.<br />
<br />
The salad was a nice mix of greens and the homemade pickles they added are a lovely addition to the salad and kicks it up a notch from just a normal green salad.<br />
<br />
We both agreed this was a very good sandwich and would come back here again and again.<br />
<br />
Surfas will surely become one of my regular lunch rotation spots. The only thing I didn't like was they don't have diet coke there. <br />
<br />
I give Surfas Cafe 8 out of 10 silver spoons. <br />

<br />
There's a new guy in town! That's right! Jersey Mike has a new home in Santa Ana! The long awaited Jersey Mike's Subs is now open and ready to serve you.<br />
<br />
I had received two coupons for a free regular sub to be enjoyed during the opening week. Tonight, Patty and I decided to head out and give these highly talked about subs a try.<br />
<br />
After all, I feel like everyone I know has eaten at a Jersey Mike's Subs but me. I was excited to finally get to try them.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BlrT-LhdoDk/Ud9O0h7T6zI/AAAAAAAAYGg/oBREC2yYQMY/s1600/100_2915.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BlrT-LhdoDk/Ud9O0h7T6zI/AAAAAAAAYGg/oBREC2yYQMY/s640/100_2915.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Patty got the famous roast beef and provolone . The roast beef was cooked to perfection. We both were very impressed that they actually carve the meat right when you order your sub and it is not already cut and laying out like other sandwich shops.<br />
<br />
They ask if you want it "Mike's Way". We explained that we didn't know what that was. The girl waiting on us asked if it was our first time eating at a Jersey Mike's and we answered "yes".<br />
<br />
She then explained that Mike's Way was lettuce, tomato, onions as well as the "Juice" which is red wine vinegar and olive oil, topped with a sprinkle of their special spices.<br />
<br />
She also told us that since it's our first visit we get a FREE COOKIE! How nice!<br />
<br />
Patty went with the "Mike's way" minus onions.<br />
<br />
She also had a bag of chips and a drink.<br />
<br />
She said the sub was soooooo good! The bread was flavorful and fresh and was the best sub she has had from any sandwich shop.<br />
<br />
The Famous Roast Beef and Provolone sub received a 9 out 10 silver spoons!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DSvLEVUlJKs/Ud9O1VcRL7I/AAAAAAAAYGo/U_UlXDTyrbg/s1600/100_2916.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DSvLEVUlJKs/Ud9O1VcRL7I/AAAAAAAAYGo/U_UlXDTyrbg/s640/100_2916.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I ordered the turkey breast and provolone sub. I too got it "Mike's Way" minus the onions and also a touch of mayo.<br />
<br />
I was expecting a lot when I took I first bite. I was not let down. The turkey was fresh and it sort of reminded me of those wonderful turkey sandwiches you have with all the left over turkey at Thanksgiving.<br />
<br />
The "juice" and spices really kicked up the flavor too. Who would have thought that vinegar would taste good on turkey???<br />
<br />
I had to agree this was the best sub I've ever eaten before. The produce was also very fresh and full of flavor. Often the lettuce and tomatoes really add nothing more then just texture to a sandwich but not here. You could really taste them.<br />
<br />
The size was good too. We got the regular size. It's a tad bit bigger then the sandwiches at TOGO or Subway. <br />
<br />
They also have a mini which is about 1/2 the size of a regular one and a giant one that is about twice as big as the regular one.<br />
<br />
The price of the Famous Roast Beef and provolone sub runs $7.95 for the regular size and the price for the turkey breast and provolone regular sub is $7.50.<br />
<br />
I too would give 9 out of 10 silver spoons for the Turkey Breast and Provolone sub. I do wish they had cranberry sauce though. I would have given it a 10 out of 10 if they did.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6aePUqoeCDQ/Ud9O2bJfSpI/AAAAAAAAYGw/hAb4nnzcUOc/s1600/100_2917.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6aePUqoeCDQ/Ud9O2bJfSpI/AAAAAAAAYGw/hAb4nnzcUOc/s640/100_2917.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. I will be going back here for sure. I'm thrilled to finally eaten here and highly recommend, if you are like me, and slow to hop on the bandwagon, get on over to the closest Jersey Mike's and see what you are missing.<br />
<br />

I've been going to BJ's for years. However, every time I go, I have only gotten their pizza. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
They do brew their own beer here and though I'm not a beer drinker, I hear they have wonderful beer.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I received a coupon for by one get one free on their new BBQ dishes. So, I gathered up some family members and off to BJ's for dinner we went.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Everyone was excited to try the ribs. It's hard to find good BBQ ribs and we had high hopes this was going to be the place.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ezn_ioZeGIg/UdyetE-sDmI/AAAAAAAAYFY/NPOoEbuQF0A/s1600/100_2871.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ezn_ioZeGIg/UdyetE-sDmI/AAAAAAAAYFY/NPOoEbuQF0A/s640/100_2871.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All meals came with your choice of either a salad or bowl of soup. Everyone in my group went with the salad.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The salad was just your normal run of the mill side salad. Iceberg lettuce, a few tomato slices, cucumbers, grated carrots and croutons, topped with your choice of dressing.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about either. In fact, I didn't eat most of mine as I wanted to save room for my meal.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N_EWWmAqjRI/UdyeysIMR4I/AAAAAAAAYFg/4AeAm1Gf8dU/s1600/100_2872.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N_EWWmAqjRI/UdyeysIMR4I/AAAAAAAAYFg/4AeAm1Gf8dU/s640/100_2872.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You can order either a full rack of ribs or a half rack. I got the 1/2 rack. They cost $17.99. We all felt this was pretty high priced for not even getting bread with your meal.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You also get your choice of BBQ sauce. I got the sweet sauce and it was super good. I would recommend it as it has a nice smoky flavor and touch of sweetness but not so much it's over powering.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You also get to pick off menu a side dish. We all got the baked potato. <br /><br />I also wanted to try their cornbread that said it was cheesy and spicy.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dz5nFh0vRzs/UdyiDpKBjCI/AAAAAAAAYGE/p4ey5oorTSs/s1600/100_2873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dz5nFh0vRzs/UdyiDpKBjCI/AAAAAAAAYGE/p4ey5oorTSs/s640/100_2873.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love lots of BBQ sauce on my ribs so, I slathered the whole cup full on mine. Like I said, it was very good sauce! So, I was excited to bite into the ribs.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I cut one of the ribs off and that is where my excitement ended. Normally baby back ribs are super tender and pretty much fall apart with little effort.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had trouble cutting into the ribs even with a knife! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I took a bite and was very let down. While the flavor tasted nice, having the meat be so hard to get off the bone made it not enjoyable at all.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In fact, I only ate two. After cutting the third one off the rack, I decided it wasn't worth eating another one.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I asked everyone in my party what they thought and two had nice tender ribs and two of us had ribs that almost seemed like they were not cooked long enough.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then I cut up the cornbread. It is meant to be a one person piece of bread but no one else wanted to spend the $3.00 on getting their own so, I split it. If it was good, we were all going to order more.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
No one ordered any more. In fact, we didn't eat but 1/2 of this between the four of us. It had no cheese or spice taste at all. It was dry with very little flavor of anything. The butter they give you is a pecan sweetened butter and it was so sweet it wasn't good at all.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Our baked potatoes were cooked perfect and everyone enjoyed them.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I would have to give our meal a 6 out of 10 sliver spoons. If the ribs were tender I would have really enjoyed this meal, minus the bread. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Perhaps because this was a new dish on the menu they have not perfected cooking the ribs so they are all tender???</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
BJ's is famous for their Pizookies. It's a warm cookie cooked and served in a mini pizza pan topped with vanilla bean ice cream.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I ordered the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. Maureen ordered the milk chocolate chip cookie.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was so thrilled when I got my pizzokie that I forgot to take a picture and so I borrowed this one from the Internet.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The picture shows the regular pizookie but we actually ordered the mini ones. They are about 1/2 the size of the regular ones and a perfect size for one.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have to give the pizookie 10 out of 10 silver spoons! There is no way these could be better! I've had some at other places but they didn't have the wonderful flavor these do.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I will be going back to BJ's for sure. However, I think I'll stick with the pizza from now on. </div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pm7SxmV1JnU/UdtFPxtsoaI/AAAAAAAAYEI/hgTcVs5IreA/s1600/l.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="410" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pm7SxmV1JnU/UdtFPxtsoaI/AAAAAAAAYEI/hgTcVs5IreA/s640/l.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I have been going to Mario's for many, many years. I have to say I have never been let down. I've never received a bad meal here.<br />
<br />
The staff has always been very friendly and helpful and even though I've gone with picky eaters before, the order always comes out as requested.<br />
<br />
So, even before I walked in the front door, I had pretty high expectations and felt I knew I was going to enjoy my meal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FzyZW2wtYAQ/UdtF3JqBrHI/AAAAAAAAYEc/hzlVnVn9INs/s1600/100_2881.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FzyZW2wtYAQ/UdtF3JqBrHI/AAAAAAAAYEc/hzlVnVn9INs/s640/100_2881.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Every day they have specials that they write on a large board. When I went one of the specials was for the #7 combo which is a taco, enchilada, rice and beans. The cost was $7.75.<br />
<br />
Since this is my normal order when I go for Mexican food anywhere, I am always happy to see this as the special of the day.<br />
<br />
I got a beef taco, it was great. A nice crunchy but not greasy shell packed full of shredded beef, lettuce, taco sauce and cheese. I got it with the cheese enchilada. It was packed full of cheese and has a great sauce on top. It doesn't taste like someone just opened a can and poured if over the enchilada like I've had at some places. This sauce is very good.<br />
<br />
There rice is ok. It's not a real strong flavor. It does have a few vegetables in it but not over powering.<br />
<br />
The beans are great! They taste like they make them right there and not canned. They top the beans with plenty of melted cheese.<br />
<br />
Once again, I was not let down and would have to give my meal a 9 out of 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uRnSKuY3eNU/UdtFz5SFE-I/AAAAAAAAYEU/Cs9HifaxcYA/s1600/100_2876.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uRnSKuY3eNU/UdtFz5SFE-I/AAAAAAAAYEU/Cs9HifaxcYA/s640/100_2876.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My niece went with me and ordered the one item combo and she picked a chicken flauta that came with rice and beans and they even gave her a side of guacamole with no additional charge.<br />
<br />
She said it was very good and ate ever bite. The chicken was nice and moist and the tortilla was nice and crunchy but the flauta was not at all greasy.<br />
<br />
The cost of this meal was $7.70.<br />
<br />
She gives this meal an 8 out of 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vGqeorCSbtQ/UdtF7Ez0rEI/AAAAAAAAYEk/70LWL-xL3Hw/s1600/100_2883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vGqeorCSbtQ/UdtF7Ez0rEI/AAAAAAAAYEk/70LWL-xL3Hw/s640/100_2883.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Liz also came to eat with us and she ordered her favorite, Caldo de Pollo with no tomatoes. What this actually is a big bowl of chicken and vegetable soup.<br />
<br />
The soup is very flavorful and has big pieces of fresh vegetables and large pieces of white meat chicken. It is served with a bowl of rice that you can add to the soup or just eat as a side dish.<br />
<br />
The cost of this meal is $6.70.<br />
<br />
This is not really something I would even think about ordering when I go to a Mexican restaurant but after seeing it, I think I would order this on a cold winter day or bring to someone who was home sick with a cold. It looked very good and seemed like a nice hearty homemade soup.<br />
<br />
Liz gave her meal a big 10 out 10 silver spoons and said she has never had any better soup anywhere.<br />
<br />
All meals come with warm chips and house salsa. I have to say the chips and salsa are reason alone to come here. They are the best around.<br />
<br />
I know many people who have stopped by and just ordered some chips and salsa to go because they are so good.<br />
<br />
The location for this restaurant is 18603 Main Street in Huntington Beach CA.<br />
<br />
I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for some good Mexican food.<br />
<br />
I give Mario's 9 out of 10 silver spoons.Joanne Kennedyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15550534887793382985noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2470221069114901069.post-86393753978337606292013-07-05T15:30:00.000-07:002013-07-14T00:48:53.432-07:00THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY ~ HUNTINGTON BEACH<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Today's review is on The Cheesecake Factory in Huntington Beach CA. <br />
<br />
This restaurant is located at 7871 Edinger Huntington Beach. It is found in Bella Terra off the 405 Fwy and Edinger.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-snXdqR60Abg/UdPXdQevmXI/AAAAAAAAYDg/6YhPV1pVGz8/s1600/IMG_9179.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-snXdqR60Abg/UdPXdQevmXI/AAAAAAAAYDg/6YhPV1pVGz8/s640/IMG_9179.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When you walk inside, you will notice display areas full of different cheesecake. Whatever you do, be sure to save room for cheesecake. After all that is what they are famous for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J6BQQIO0E9k/UdPXgjI8sKI/AAAAAAAAYDo/WFmFXyle284/s1600/IMG_9177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J6BQQIO0E9k/UdPXgjI8sKI/AAAAAAAAYDo/WFmFXyle284/s640/IMG_9177.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
They have a nice decor with plenty of tables and booths inside as well as tables outside on their patio.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JpxxUpv3Z9Y/UdPXQigNnPI/AAAAAAAAYDI/0HHWJE7PQJ8/s1600/IMG_9173.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="534" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JpxxUpv3Z9Y/UdPXQigNnPI/AAAAAAAAYDI/0HHWJE7PQJ8/s640/IMG_9173.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
They have a super large menu with over 200 items to pick from. It takes awhile to decide what you are going to order. <br />
<br />
I finally decided on the Evelyn Pasta. I got the lunch size which was still a large portion.<br />
<br />
It is Penne pasta with broccoli, oven dried tomatoes, roasted eggplant, artichokes, Kalamata olives, garlic and pine nuts. <br />
<br />
This is such a great pasta dish. Each bite gives a different taste as it is packed full of vegetables that provide a nice combination of texture and flavor.<br />
<br />
I loved this dish!<br />
<br />
I would give it a 9 out of 10 silver spoons. I will definitely order this again. This is the type of dish that will make you crave it again and again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p_5XPZvi7_g/UdPXUusZvoI/AAAAAAAAYDQ/fXWy5l8hnA4/s1600/IMG_9169.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p_5XPZvi7_g/UdPXUusZvoI/AAAAAAAAYDQ/fXWy5l8hnA4/s640/IMG_9169.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Our visit was on a Sunday. I went with my sister and she wanted breakfast rather then lunch. <br />
<br />
She ordered pancakes, bacon and fruit.<br />
<br />
She was very disappointed that the syrup was not the normal maple syrup. It was very sweet and tasted like a butterscotch syrup. The flavor was not good. <br />
<br />
She said the bacon was good but the fruit left a lot to be desired. It was mostly apples and oranges and since it is summer time with all the great fruits out like strawberries, melons, grapes, pineapple, peaches and so on, apples and oranges was a big let down.<br />
<br />
Plus, the fruit was cut up way to small.<br />
<br />
She was very disappointed in her meal and said she would never order it again.<br />
<br />
She gave it a 4 out 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s0XcJk6UD4s/UdPXZPaHrgI/AAAAAAAAYDY/6F461NXcexU/s1600/IMG_9176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s0XcJk6UD4s/UdPXZPaHrgI/AAAAAAAAYDY/6F461NXcexU/s640/IMG_9176.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Even though I was stuffed, I still ordered a slice of cheesecake. There was no way I was going to go the Cheesecake Factory and not have cheesecake.<br />
<br />
They have so many different flavors of cheesecake to pick from but I like my cheesecake plain. No fruit, cookies, nuts or anything on mine. Just good ol' cheesecake. <br />
<br />
The plain cheesecake does have a very mild sour cream topping. It also comes with wonderful fresh thick whipped cream.<br />
<br />
This has got to be some of the best cheesecake I've ever had. <br />
<br />
I would give it 9 out 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
Sadly, I can't give you prices because I didn't pay. It was my sisters treat and I didn't see what the bill came to.<br />
<br />
I would return to eat here any time, any day. I would however, recommend that you order lunch or dinner items and skip the breakfast. <br />
In the summer months on Tuesday evenings, Main Street in Huntington Beach is closed off to car traffic and a Farmers Market opens up. Bands play music, vendors set up booths and a lot of people show up to shop and eat and just have a fun time.<br />
<br />
I met up with a group of friends down there. We decided we were going to eat dinner before we walked around. <br />
<br />
We had never gone to Killarney's Irish Sports Pub and Grill and so we decided to give it a go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R7OLOxhzWNs/UdPO4mBCQ2I/AAAAAAAAYCY/mleGNrP6-Nw/s1600/IMG_9310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R7OLOxhzWNs/UdPO4mBCQ2I/AAAAAAAAYCY/mleGNrP6-Nw/s640/IMG_9310.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There were several people inside, eating and drinking up at the bar. A few people were at the tables eating and watching sports on one of the many TVs they have hanging on the walls.<br />
<br />
There is also an outside area to eat right on the sidewalk out front. It's a great place to people watch while you enjoy your food.<br /><br />However, we wanted to get away from the crowds outside and find a spot not so loud so we could talk and catch up while we ate.<br />
<br />
As soon as we sat down we were greeted by a lovely young lady. She handed us menus and got our drink orders.<br />
<br />
The menu had a large variety and we all decided to try something different so we could see how good different items were.<br />
<br />
Our drinks came quickly and she took our order. Within a few minutes she returned with our food.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XRWCM2SBR6M/UdPPAIC21XI/AAAAAAAAYCg/gXTo1dDFm08/s1600/IMG_9318.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XRWCM2SBR6M/UdPPAIC21XI/AAAAAAAAYCg/gXTo1dDFm08/s640/IMG_9318.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I ordered the Pastrami sandwich and onion rings.<br />
<br />
The sandwich had hot pastrami, melted cheese, mustard and pickles served on a French roll.<br />
<br />
The pastrami was sliced way to thick. It was lean though. However, it tasted very very greasy. It was so bad, I gave away 1/2 of my sandwich and only ate three bites off of the half I kept. <br />
<br />
The onion rings had little flavor and tasted mostly like grease also. There was no onion flavor, even when I ate the onions without the batter on them.<br />
<br />
I was very disappointed. The cost of my sandwich was $7.99 before tax. My drink (diet coke) was an additional $2.00.<br />
<br />
I would give my meal a 2 out of 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nRlQB65jJOk/UdPPG5hfT4I/AAAAAAAAYCo/ZFQ9CMqiZbs/s1600/IMG_9317.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nRlQB65jJOk/UdPPG5hfT4I/AAAAAAAAYCo/ZFQ9CMqiZbs/s640/IMG_9317.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Nick ordered a Chicken Club sandwich with onion rings. He said it was a wonderful sandwich and even though I didn't care for the onion rings he felt they were ok.<br />
<br />
He gave his meal an 8 out 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hPj9k_dcKR4/UdPPSFq925I/AAAAAAAAYC4/Ez8KQzI8lfQ/s1600/IMG_9316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hPj9k_dcKR4/UdPPSFq925I/AAAAAAAAYC4/Ez8KQzI8lfQ/s640/IMG_9316.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Liz ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and fruit for her side dish.<br />
<br />
I almost wasn't going to include her sandwich in the review because, really I had never heard anyone say their grilled sandwich wasn't good. However, there have been wonderful grilled cheese sandwiches so I agreed to include it.<br />
<br />
She took a bite and made a face. She didn't say anything at first and then she took another bite. I asked her how it was. She said it was bad. It had very little flavor and what flavor there was wasn't good.<br />
<br />
The bread tasted more like dry old bread rather then grilled/toasted bread. <br />
<br />
She only ate 1/2 of her sandwich and then said it wasn't worth eating the other 1/2. She did like the fruit. She said the fruit was fresh and full of flavor.<br />
<br />She gave her meal a 4 out 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lDUtXSXiVLQ/UdPPOUygvuI/AAAAAAAAYCw/GZbwEscg1AI/s1600/IMG_9314.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lDUtXSXiVLQ/UdPPOUygvuI/AAAAAAAAYCw/GZbwEscg1AI/s640/IMG_9314.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Cherish ordered a Tuna Melt. She took her first bite and then opened her sandwich and looked at it closely. She said there were carrots in the tuna salad. She did not like the taste and complained that tuna tasted like some off brand canned tuna and that the carrots gave it a super odd taste.<br />
<br />
She did like the fries and said they were crispy outside and had a seasoning salt on them that was very good.<br />
<br />
She gave her meal a 4 out 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />
I forgot to check on the prices of their meals.<br />
<br />
We all agreed we would not go back there to eat.<br />
<br />It did look like a fun place to hang out if you were looking for a place to have a few drinks with friends and watch a game together. Just eat before you go or only order snack food to nibble on.<br />
<br />
All in all we gave Killarney's Irish Sports Pub and Grill 4.5 silver spoons and would not recommend this location to anyone we knew.<br />
<br />
However, should you wish to try it out the address is 209 Main Street Huntington Beach CA.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-68AXmuO_NlA/UdOCbVOM6vI/AAAAAAAAYB0/5ReLlD5lG88/s1600/100_2850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-68AXmuO_NlA/UdOCbVOM6vI/AAAAAAAAYB0/5ReLlD5lG88/s640/100_2850.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I've been to Panera Bread several times. It's one of my go to places when I want to get something quick, for a good price and I know the food will always taste the same.<br />
<br />
The location I went to tonight was the one located on Bristol and Sunflower in Santa Ana.<br />
<br />
I love this location. The staff is always super friendly, the location is always clean and I can always find a seat if I want to eat there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BRcqC5eGHRc/UdOCaHRLwlI/AAAAAAAAYBw/Hq35ZRLiSkc/s1600/100_2843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BRcqC5eGHRc/UdOCaHRLwlI/AAAAAAAAYBw/Hq35ZRLiSkc/s640/100_2843.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Tonight, I couldn't decide if I wanted to have something cold or something hot. So I went with both.<br />
<br />
I ordered the Cheese Tortellini Alfredo (my something hot) and it comes with a side salad or soup. I ordered the salad (my something cold).<br />
<br />
You get to choose between three salads. Either Greek Salad, Cesar Salad or there green salad.<br />
<br />
I went with the Greek Salad. It came with lettuce, olives, tomatoes and cheese and had a light Greek Salad dressing on it. <br />
<br />
The salad was ok. Nothing to write home about. But still it was crisp, cold and fresh. Just what I was looking for.<br />
<br />
The Tortellini is very rich. The Alfredo sauce was very good. It was creamy, very cheesy and full of flavor. This was very good.<br />
<br />
However, I ordered the large size and couldn't eat it all. It's more filling then it looks. So, I took half of it home.<br />
<br />Bread comes with it too. A piece of warm, freshly baked baguette with real butter. YUM!<br />
<br />
The cost of this meal along with my drink and tax came to $12.94. I think it is a very fair price.<br />
<br />
I really enjoyed this meal. I would get it again. <br /><br />I would give this 8 out of 10 silver spoons for the pasta but only 6 out 10 silver spoons for the salad.<br />
<br />
So this meal gets a grand total of 7 out of 10 silver spoons.<br />
<br />

<br />
I got a Steak and White Cheddar Panini sandwich to go. I brought it home for my sister.<br />
<br />
The cost of this sandwich with tax came to $8.71. <br />
<br />
She said she liked this. Said it was still warm. The meat was very tender and it had plenty of melted cheese on it.<br />
<br />However, the bread was very hard to chew. Perhaps if it was on a different type of bread she would have been more enjoyable.<br />
<br />
The chips were "just chips". <br />
<br />
She gives this a 7 out of 10 silver spoons. She did say she would order this again but ask for it on different bread.<br />

The Pacific Whey Cafe I ate at is located at 7961 PCH, Newport Beach, CA.<br />
<br />
It is in a beautiful location with lovely views of the Ocean that is right across the street.<br />
<br />
They are in a shopping center so it's a great place to get a bite to eat and do a little shopping either before or after your meal.<br />
<br />
As you walk up to place your order you are greeted by a counter filled with yummy looking pastries, cookies and cakes. All baked daily there.<br />
<br />
The menu has something for everyone. Soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, burgers and hot dishes. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t72XR0SvtoU/UdJdpnT5qdI/AAAAAAAAYBY/zjo5aMDt78E/s1600/100_2836.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t72XR0SvtoU/UdJdpnT5qdI/AAAAAAAAYBY/zjo5aMDt78E/s640/100_2836.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I went for lunch and ordered the Pacific Whey Summer Salad.<br />
<br />
This is a salad of field greens, Romain Lettuce, Dates, Carrots, Red Onions, Goat Cheese, Candied Walnuts, Strawberries and grapes. Served with fresh Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette and a roll.<br />
<br />
The salad was very good. The mixture of fruit, nuts, cheese and different lettuce was a great combination.<br />
<br />
The vinaigrette was very mellow and was not over powering like some can be. All of the produce was very fresh and fully rip. I hate when I order a salad and some of the produce (mainly fruit) is hard with no flavor because it's been picked way before it's ripe enough.<br />
<br />
I can't tell you if the roll was good or not because I didn't eat it. Not because I don't like rolls or because it looked like something was wrong with it. I just wasn't in the mood for a roll so I left it on my plate. But, it was the only thing left. I ate the whole salad.<br />
<br />
That being said, I did order the 1/2 salad. This was more then enough for a lunch and was rather big for only being a 1/2 salad. I was impressed by the size. I believe a large would have been way to big...at least for me.<br />
<br />
The price of the salad with a drink came out to a total of $8.11. That included the tax also. A very reasonable price.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BOstDpXAXu4/UdJdp-RnWfI/AAAAAAAAYBg/FrsvCOuq-QA/s1600/100_2839.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BOstDpXAXu4/UdJdp-RnWfI/AAAAAAAAYBg/FrsvCOuq-QA/s640/100_2839.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There is a wonderful outside area you can eat at if the weather is nice. There are table and chairs tucked under large trees to provide shade so you don't get to hot on a summer day.<br />
<br />
Eating out there reminded me of eating at a great sidewalk cafe while on vacation.<br />
<br />
Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. With fast service.<br />
<br />
While you go up and place your order at the counter they do bring your food to you, come around to ask if you need anything else and also pick up your dirty dishes.<br />
<br />
I don't think I could have asked for a better salad or better service. I will be going back for sure and would be happy to recommend eating here to anyone.<br />
<br />
I would give 8 1/2 out of 10 golden spoons. <br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4nIZcuc7Xxs/UdDHkFz9yuI/AAAAAAAAYA8/89L1cAgcDCQ/s1600/100_2835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4nIZcuc7Xxs/UdDHkFz9yuI/AAAAAAAAYA8/89L1cAgcDCQ/s640/100_2835.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Being raised in So. Cali, I have eaten at many many Mexican restaurants. Mexican food has to be my favorite of all food. <br />
<br />
So, I was excited to try La Terraza Mexican Grill. It is located at 3605 S. Bristol in Santa Ana. <br />
<br />
You have to be looking for this place because it's tucked in the corner of a strip mall and hidden behind a Liquor Store. It doesn't get much advertisement and you really need to know where it is or you are likely to miss it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j0OhB1vHtQc/UdDHcXMgX1I/AAAAAAAAYAw/yM1nYsqe1kQ/s1600/100_2828.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j0OhB1vHtQc/UdDHcXMgX1I/AAAAAAAAYAw/yM1nYsqe1kQ/s640/100_2828.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I went on Sunday around noon and not one person was inside eating when we got there. This was a bit worrisome and normally not a good sign of a good place to eat.<br />
<br />
We were greeted right away and told we could sit anywhere. Drinks were brought out to us along with a basket of chips and salsa and a small plate of beans. <br />
<br />
The chips and salsa were good and I loved the beans as an added touch.<br />
<br />
It was warm inside and I asked if they had A/C. I was told they did but it was not on. Yet, they quickly turned it on for me and the placed cooled right down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zZu_FvG5ZBI/UdDHflfhFsI/AAAAAAAAYA4/g9H8qCiKhlY/s1600/100_2829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zZu_FvG5ZBI/UdDHflfhFsI/AAAAAAAAYA4/g9H8qCiKhlY/s640/100_2829.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The food came out super fast. I went with my brother and we both ordered the same thing. We got a beef taco and a cheese enchilada. Rice and beans were on the side.<br />
<br />
My brother actually wanted a chicken taco but found out the chicken was a mix of both dark and white meat. Since he only likes white meat he went with the beef taco.<br />
<br />
The taco was small. But the taste was pretty good. The meat was cooked in a flavorful sauce and they also put lettuce and cheese on the taco.<br />
<br />
The enchilada wasn't bad but, it wasn't good either. It was ok. It was almost as if they used a can sauce and didn't add anything to it. <br />
<br />
The rice didn't have much flavor which I've found is how a lot of Mexican restaurants taste. The beans were pretty good though.<br />
<br />
The cost was less the $7.00 so there isn't complain there. The soft drinks are served in a can with a glass of ice handed to you. I thought because of this they would charge for a refill but they don't. <br />
<br />
Several people did come in to eat while we were there. <br />
<br />
I thought the service was great. I didn't feel rushed and by no means was the service slow either. <br />
<br />
I would go back here if I was in the mood for Mexican food and someone wanted to go here. I don't think I would be the one to suggest it though as there are so many other great Mexican restaurants around.<br />
<br />
I would give this place 6 1/2 out of 10 silver spoons. <br />
<br />
They do have Taco Tues where the tacos are only $2.00.Joanne Kennedyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15550534887793382985noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2470221069114901069.post-10633666167524668692013-06-20T23:35:00.000-07:002013-06-20T23:37:07.477-07:00PHILLY'S BEST ~ SANTA ANA CA<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bcshPZdzEjc/UcPrURlLgHI/AAAAAAAAX-Q/takQDKyBZow/s1600/IMG_9337.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="416" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bcshPZdzEjc/UcPrURlLgHI/AAAAAAAAX-Q/takQDKyBZow/s640/IMG_9337.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Philly's Best first opened in Fountain Valley CA back in 1992. The owners are actually from Philadelphia and missed having good cheese stake sandwiches. So, rather then moving back to Philly, they did the next best thing and brought a little bit of Philly right here to CA.<br />
<br />
There are now 24 locations in CA.<br />
<br />
I went to the one located at 2801 W. MacArthur Blvd in Santa Ana, CA.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xAeh2DnxlLc/UcPrXKhd0ZI/AAAAAAAAX-s/C5D82ykoiqs/s1600/IMG_9343.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xAeh2DnxlLc/UcPrXKhd0ZI/AAAAAAAAX-s/C5D82ykoiqs/s640/IMG_9343.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As soon as I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with a nice welcome by the staff. While I was eating my sandwich there I noticed they did this to everyone that came in.<br />
<br />
It gave a nice feeling of being part of a "family" or close neighborhood. The friendly staff makes you feel very comfortable and like they are truly happy to serve you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TOtvaVFsRIo/UcPrVDCndqI/AAAAAAAAX-c/FzzyELdmCzM/s1600/IMG_9341.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TOtvaVFsRIo/UcPrVDCndqI/AAAAAAAAX-c/FzzyELdmCzM/s640/IMG_9341.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
While they offer many different types of sandwiches, salads, burgers and other items, I was there for what made them famous. The original cheese stake sandwich. <br />
<br />
As soon as I placed my order the cook started right away to cook my sandwich. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4nN40ecEqE0/UcPrWnr6ZGI/AAAAAAAAX-k/kmZf6hi58bg/s1600/IMG_9342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4nN40ecEqE0/UcPrWnr6ZGI/AAAAAAAAX-k/kmZf6hi58bg/s640/IMG_9342.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Philly's Best uses traditional Philly Style ingredients and offers chips, drinks, cakes and beer that we can't normally get here in CA. They come from Philly.<br />
<br />
The rolls are actually shipped in from Philly too. They use genuine Amoroso rolls and I believe that gives them their wonderful taste that makes them stand out from other cheese stake places.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JvDpND8VEeQ/UcPrXgeXk4I/AAAAAAAAX-0/yTUfLduNFGU/s1600/IMG_9344.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JvDpND8VEeQ/UcPrXgeXk4I/AAAAAAAAX-0/yTUfLduNFGU/s640/IMG_9344.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
They also offer wonderful fresh pickles and hot peppers to enjoy while you are waiting for your sandwich or to eat on them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VQLd-CKB3Ps/UcPrdnSijRI/AAAAAAAAX-8/6C0IQSWGxkU/s1600/IMG_9345.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VQLd-CKB3Ps/UcPrdnSijRI/AAAAAAAAX-8/6C0IQSWGxkU/s640/IMG_9345.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I also ordered cheese fries. YUM!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U2mxV8iINBc/UcPrelp-WlI/AAAAAAAAX_E/O75uVwEAOHA/s1600/IMG_9352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U2mxV8iINBc/UcPrelp-WlI/AAAAAAAAX_E/O75uVwEAOHA/s640/IMG_9352.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The stake was wonderful! Lean, cut thin and cooked to perfection. The cheese melted and mixed in with the meat and even soaked into the roll a little bit.<br />
<br />
It was a wonderful combination. As I took a bite I got the nice warm meat, melted cheese and soft roll. It was like taking a little mini vacation in my mouth.<br />
<br />
The cost of the sandwich was only $5.00. A great deal! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-da4I5my3L6E/UcPrfgqHJFI/AAAAAAAAX_M/ZIuZlFPDfrs/s1600/IMG_9348.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-da4I5my3L6E/UcPrfgqHJFI/AAAAAAAAX_M/ZIuZlFPDfrs/s640/IMG_9348.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The fries were topped with a creamy cheese sauce. You get a large portion and plenty of cheese sauce.<br />
<br />
They were good. Very good in fact but really, nothing out of the norm for cheese fries.<br />
<br />
The cost was $2.59 and were worth every penny.<br />
<br />
I also got a regular size drink that comes with free refills for $1.89 which is a great price for unlimited soda.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D-ijy-OW9uM/UcPrgtkx3ZI/AAAAAAAAX_U/zy5tE6ChXmQ/s1600/IMG_9349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D-ijy-OW9uM/UcPrgtkx3ZI/AAAAAAAAX_U/zy5tE6ChXmQ/s640/IMG_9349.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Since I have never been to Philly, I have never had a Tastykake. I have heard a lot about them and how good they are. <br />
<br />
I decided to try one. I got the chocolate cupcakes with white icing.<br />
<br />
For those in CA, we are used to Hostess (no longer in business) cakes, cupcakes and other snacks.<br />
<br />
Tastykake are pretty much like Hostess cakes. I do think they are a little better though. First you get three cakes for $2.11.<br />
<br />
The cake is lighter and a nicer flavor then Hostess cakes. They seem moister and fresher too.<br />
<br />
But, they are nothing to write home about. They are still prepackaged snack cakes. I don't know if I would get another one or not.<br />
<br />
All in all, I loved Philly's Best. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a little bit of Philadelphia flavor.<br />
<br />
Most people got their food to go but I would recommend you stay and eat it there if you have the time. Read the sign on the wall and learn all about famous people and places in Philly. Watch sports on one of their 3 TVs. Or just enjoy the conversations going on around you.<br />
<br />
I would give Philly's Best 8 out 10 golden spoons. Joanne Kennedyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15550534887793382985noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2470221069114901069.post-34065394388234935742013-06-13T23:22:00.000-07:002013-06-13T23:22:58.742-07:00MIMI'S CAFE in FOUNTAIN VALLEY CA<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7vhVXbzsSos/Ubqwbuz6gTI/AAAAAAAAX6k/Yc4haO9EA4Y/s1600/IMG_9076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7vhVXbzsSos/Ubqwbuz6gTI/AAAAAAAAX6k/Yc4haO9EA4Y/s640/IMG_9076.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Mimi's Cafe is a chain restaurant. Most of the time chain restaurants are good to go to when you want to grab a quick bite to eat and you know that you will get fair food, fair service and fair prices.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CzNrupsdblQ/UbqwXX_coPI/AAAAAAAAX6g/OpiPZVV78CE/s1600/IMG_9075.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CzNrupsdblQ/UbqwXX_coPI/AAAAAAAAX6g/OpiPZVV78CE/s640/IMG_9075.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I do think that even though Mimi's Cafe is a chain restaurant, Mimi's Cafe is a step above the other local chain restaurants. <br />
<br />
They have a good menu with lots of options. The food is good quality. The portion sizes are nice and the decor is cute.<br />
<br />
Most of the time's you will be greeted at the door by a staff member. Today, we were greeted by the manager who was very friendly and welcomed us in with "Bonjour" which was a nod to the Parisian decor.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uyuX4nI-ntI/UbqwhVmYpNI/AAAAAAAAX6w/ZTlwFKe9hsw/s1600/IMG_9080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uyuX4nI-ntI/UbqwhVmYpNI/AAAAAAAAX6w/ZTlwFKe9hsw/s640/IMG_9080.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Our visit to Mimi's Cafe was in the morning so we enjoyed breakfast. Breakfast has always been my favorite meal to eat out. <br />
<br />
The Cinnamon Brioche French Toast is a way to kick up the normal French toast. Sort of like having a cinnamon roll and French toast all in one. YUM!<br />
<br />
It comes with bacon or sausage and eggs. However, today we substituted the eggs for fruit.<br />
<br />
The bacon was nice and crisp and the French toast was cooked to a golden perfection. The fruit was juicy and flavorful. <br />
<br />
Cost was $9.94.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zOHNqh0SO0I/Ubqwjo-qbeI/AAAAAAAAX64/W2n6PUHSu5E/s1600/IMG_9081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zOHNqh0SO0I/Ubqwjo-qbeI/AAAAAAAAX64/W2n6PUHSu5E/s640/IMG_9081.JPG" width="502" /></a></div>
<br />
We also ordered the Make your own omelet. Our three picks were spinach, feta cheese and tomatoes. It is made with three eggs so it's fairly large. Served with red skin fried potatoes and your choice of bread item.<br />
<br />
While it was good I can't say it was the best omelet I've had. It was a tad dry. I would say it was cooked just a little bit to long and the tomatoes had little to no flavor. The potatoes were great though.<br />
<br />
Cost was $8.99.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div align="left">
The food was pretty good but the service was WONDERFUL! It started the minute we walked up to the door. As I said, we were greeted and welcomed right at the front door. This of course put us in a good mood right away.</div>
<div align="left">
<br />
As soon as we sat down our waiter was there to take our drink orders. Shortly after he took our meal orders. <br />
<br />
Our food came out fast and we were asked several times if we needed anything and checked on to make sure our meal was to our liking.</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
We were asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. Even the milk came with free refills. Not seen in most restaurants.</div>

On our way out, a young girl opened the door for us and wished us a good day.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I was in Long Beach and decided to stop for a bite to eat. I wanted to try some place I've never been before and came across Boston's. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EnnTQ9x-lTk/UbllZFCImLI/AAAAAAAAX5g/6rXBXsUDVTw/s1600/IMG_9061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EnnTQ9x-lTk/UbllZFCImLI/AAAAAAAAX5g/6rXBXsUDVTw/s640/IMG_9061.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The menu was posted out front and most Sports Bar and Grill places I've been to have really good food so we thought we would give this place a try.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HUHQaY_C3nY/Ubll0mGUikI/AAAAAAAAX6I/BxgHCtp5m5A/s1600/IMG_9064.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HUHQaY_C3nY/Ubll0mGUikI/AAAAAAAAX6I/BxgHCtp5m5A/s640/IMG_9064.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The decor was really nothing special and other then the menu cover having baseball stuff on it, the bathroom door having a handle in the shape of a baseball bat (I assume for Boston Red Sox) there wasn't much that really had to do with Boston. <br />
<br />
Oh, there was the sign with desserts hanging that said they had Boston Cream Pie...does that count?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sbO8ThHMcZM/UbllvOx-oHI/AAAAAAAAX6A/IaqQwQ_XVjw/s1600/IMG_9072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sbO8ThHMcZM/UbllvOx-oHI/AAAAAAAAX6A/IaqQwQ_XVjw/s640/IMG_9072.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
There was another room that had the bar area and some tables and chairs to eat at. There were several TVs there to watch sports on. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AkbyVKTTPEs/UbllddYF3-I/AAAAAAAAX5o/LfJlvrYJj-k/s1600/IMG_9067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AkbyVKTTPEs/UbllddYF3-I/AAAAAAAAX5o/LfJlvrYJj-k/s640/IMG_9067.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
But hey, you are really looking for the food review here so let's get to the point.<br />
<br />
I went with my sister and she ordered the Fish and Chips. She got the lunch size. You get two pieces of fish, fries and coleslaw. For dinner you get the same only 3 pieces of fish.<br />
<br />
The fish was pretty good. It had a nice crunchy but not greasy crust. The fish was not overly fishy tasting. The coleslaw was crunchy and had the perfect amount of dressing on it. The fries were good, nothing special but not bad either.<br />
<br />
Cost for the Fish and Chips was $11.29 for the lunch size and $15.79 for dinner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i1VM7kc1_S0/UblllalnfqI/AAAAAAAAX5w/y2nZs6tg5TA/s1600/IMG_9069.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i1VM7kc1_S0/UblllalnfqI/AAAAAAAAX5w/y2nZs6tg5TA/s640/IMG_9069.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Outside there were big signs that said SALAD PASTA PIZZA. So, I figured that is what they are famous for.<br />
<br />
I ordered the spinach salad. The spinach was chopped and there were NO stems! A big plus!!!!<br />
<br />
It also had dried cranberries, pecans, feta cheese and though I didn't get it, it normally comes with onions and mushrooms. Since I don't care for those, I asked them to leave them off my salad.<br />
<br />
The dressing was wonderful citrus vinaigrette. <br />
<br />
This has to be the best the spinach salad I've ever eaten. I was very pleased.<br />
<br />
Cost was $10.29 or you could get a half salad for $6.29. If you wanted chicken added the cost was an additional $2.89. For Salmon added it was an additional $6.99.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SL5q1VdiUXs/UbllquRB-xI/AAAAAAAAX54/cGJEknvJt0Y/s1600/IMG_9071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="434" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SL5q1VdiUXs/UbllquRB-xI/AAAAAAAAX54/cGJEknvJt0Y/s640/IMG_9071.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
While they do offer normal size desserts, we decided that since we were full we would order the mini desserts. The size is perfect when you just want a little bit so you don't feel like you missed out on dessert.<br />
<br />
Plus, they only cost $1.99 so it's a good way to order a few different desserts without spending a lot of money or not being able to eat them all.<br />
<br />
We got, strawberry cheesecake and bread pudding.<br />
<br />
The strawberry cheesecake was a BIG let down. It had very little flavor, had a strawberry jelly like filling and was topped with something that taste like off brand cool whip rather then whipped cream.<br />
<br />
I wouldn't even finish it and I love cheesecake.<br />
<br />
The bread pudding was a better choice. The flavor was ok. Yet it didn't really taste like bread pudding. It was more like a cinnamon roll or donut flavor. Again, it was topped with the fake whipped cream.<br />
<br />
While we left full we both agreed we most likely would not go back there unless someone we were with really wanted to eat there. There are to many other places near there that is much better.<br />
<br />
The service also lacked a bit. We did get seated right away but it took awhile for our food to come out. In fact the manager noticed we were still waiting and had to go ask the waitress where it was.<br />
<br />
We also had to ask for drink refills. I hate that. I think a good wait staff knows they should keep an eye out and either just bring you another drink or at least ask if you would like another.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LacwNUwKPwg/UbgRjsrbvRI/AAAAAAAAX3Q/qflvu5gEKHQ/s1600/IMG_9028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LacwNUwKPwg/UbgRjsrbvRI/AAAAAAAAX3Q/qflvu5gEKHQ/s640/IMG_9028.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<span id="goog_804445113"></span><span id="goog_804445114"></span><br />
<span id="goog_804445113">I knew I was going to Balboa Island to walk around the shops and enjoy the beautiful weather</span>. Before I went, I went on line to read some reviews for places to eat down there and Wilma's Patio came up as sounding like a great place to go.<br />
<br />
After walking around for a little while and going in and out of shops, I started to get hungry. I had forgotten to bring the address of Wilma's Patio though and so I had no idea where I was going to eat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pce3PwHtgnc/UbgRlxkJ8cI/AAAAAAAAX3c/1pFWvYm80XE/s1600/IMG_9030.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pce3PwHtgnc/UbgRlxkJ8cI/AAAAAAAAX3c/1pFWvYm80XE/s640/IMG_9030.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I passed by several places to eat but none sounded like anything I was in the mood to eat at.<br />
<br />
That is, until I looked up and noticed I was standing right in front of Wilma's Patio! I quickly went over to read the menu.<br />
<br />
There were several things to pick from. That was going to be the hardest part about eating there.<br />
<br />
I saw they served breakfast all day and was all set to order an omelet with spinach, tomatoes and feta cheese.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ihQEJv3ZoFQ/UbgRn9w6bjI/AAAAAAAAX3k/xr678-aNEyw/s1600/IMG_9025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ihQEJv3ZoFQ/UbgRn9w6bjI/AAAAAAAAX3k/xr678-aNEyw/s640/IMG_9025.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Once inside, I was handed the menu and as I was looking it over again, the lady sitting next to me asked for a side of salsa to go with her meal. She told the waiter it was the best salsa she had ever eaten.<br />
<br />
Well, that caught my attention because I'm a big lover salsa. In fact, Mexican food is my favorite type of food.<br />
<br />
Wilma's Patio had several Mexican food meals and suddenly, my omelet wasn't what I wanted any longer.<br />
<br />
I ordered the Taco salad.<br />
<br />
I was a bit worried because I've had some pretty bad Taco salads before. But, once the waiter brought this salad to me, I knew I had scored!<br />
<br />
They serve it in a freshly cooked shell. Chopped lettuce is covered with beans, rice, two kinds of cheese, sour cream and salsa. You can also get chicken, beef or pork and guacamole for no extra charge.<br />
<br />
The flavors exploded in my mouth and I was in heaven. This was by far the best Taco Salad I had ever had...and I've had a lot.<br />
<br />
The lady next to me was right. The salsa was wonderful! It was so fresh and you could tell it didn't come out a bottle. It's made right there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8-Bqtsaiep4/UbgRuGCCYhI/AAAAAAAAX3s/04-T4oV88qQ/s1600/IMG_9027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8-Bqtsaiep4/UbgRuGCCYhI/AAAAAAAAX3s/04-T4oV88qQ/s640/IMG_9027.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As I enjoyed my meal, I took notice of what others around me ordered. Most of the people ordered breakfast. Everything looked great and the comments I heard confirmed that everyone was happy to eat there.<br />
<br />
There was even a guy who sat up at the bar area and told the waitress that he was on diet and she helped him pick his perfect breakfast even though it was not on the menu. I thought that was nice that she took the time with him and they were happy to cook what the customer ordered and not just what was on the menu.<br />
<br />
Everyone that worked there was so friendly. My waiter joked with me and made me feel super comfortable. Sometimes eating alone can make me feel very uncomfortable. Here I was treated like they knew me.<br />
<br />
Service was above par too. The food came fast, drinks were refilled without having to ask, I was greeted when I walked in and was told good bye when I left.<br />
<br />
I will be going back here without a doubt. I really want to try the breakfast next time.<br />
<br />
I would give Wilma's Patio a 9 out 10 silver spoons. <br />
<br />
The only reason they didn't get 10 silver forks is because they are a little high priced. I know it's because they are in a tourist area, near the beach and so it was expected though.<br />
<br />
If you ever go to Balboa Island you really should stop and enjoy the good food and good people at Wilma's Patio.<br />
<br />
They are located at 203 Marine Ave, Balboa Island CA. Have you ever found yourself out with your dog and found yourself hungry? What do you do? Do you go through a drive thru and order junk food? Do you drive home and drop off your dog? Do you search high and low for a place that will allow you to bring your dog with you?<br />
<br />
Well if you do the last option, stop searching! Go to The Lazy Dog Cafe. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6UXHsHE67BY/UbQV-EOPPSI/AAAAAAAAXzM/MCjfJzfWDdI/s1600/IMG_8992.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6UXHsHE67BY/UbQV-EOPPSI/AAAAAAAAXzM/MCjfJzfWDdI/s640/IMG_8992.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Even though during my visit, no one had dogs with them, they were still enjoying the great patio area. <br />
<br />
Dogs are allowed to join you if you choose to eat outside here. Due to the law, they are not allowed to let you bring your dogs inside the restaurant though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d6yWsVc_-Xk/UbQV7-N5HoI/AAAAAAAAXzE/ODumwX-zVbI/s1600/IMG_8990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d6yWsVc_-Xk/UbQV7-N5HoI/AAAAAAAAXzE/ODumwX-zVbI/s640/IMG_8990.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
They do have a wonderful fireplace outside to keep you feeling warm and cozy even if it's a bit chilly outside though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Being a huge dog lover, I love all the little dog touches they have. <br />
<br />
Starting with outside, This cute dog greets you. Check out the door handle. It's in the shape of a dog bone! How cute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YtFXq_bcAFE/UbQWMSv2nRI/AAAAAAAAXzs/WVJr72T8tfs/s1600/IMG_8996.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="584" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YtFXq_bcAFE/UbQWMSv2nRI/AAAAAAAAXzs/WVJr72T8tfs/s640/IMG_8996.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Inside, you will find a cozy place with lots of dog touches too. There are both booths and tables to pick from.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-469iCYwDoJE/UbQWD65K37I/AAAAAAAAXzc/HGWfx9kBQMU/s1600/IMG_8994.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-469iCYwDoJE/UbQWD65K37I/AAAAAAAAXzc/HGWfx9kBQMU/s640/IMG_8994.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
While you are waiting for your food to come, take a walk around. Go look at all the darling dog pictures on the photo wall. I'm told these pictures are of dogs that belong to either the staff or customers. <br />
<br />
I couldn't pick which one was the cutest and I would wager you won't be able to either.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cHR3lO8mGKA/UbQWHUNYfzI/AAAAAAAAXzk/EdeLdb6g2cQ/s1600/IMG_8995.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cHR3lO8mGKA/UbQWHUNYfzI/AAAAAAAAXzk/EdeLdb6g2cQ/s640/IMG_8995.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you look around searching for cute dog touches, don't forget to look up. You will find a large dog paw print hanging high above.<br />
<br />
On your way out, be sure to grab a mint in the shape of a dog bone too! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ucZ_hO-O8ek/UbQWSMms9oI/AAAAAAAAXz0/gdy0OBO7JD0/s1600/IMG_8998.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ucZ_hO-O8ek/UbQWSMms9oI/AAAAAAAAXz0/gdy0OBO7JD0/s640/IMG_8998.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
While the decor is darling, it's really about the food right? Let's get on to that subject.<br />
<br />
We ordered the Trio of Hummus to start with. <br />
<br />
For $8.45 you get three different flavors of hummus. You get a scoop of traditional hummus, sun dried tomato hummus and pesto hummus. With it comes cucumber and tomato slices and triangles of flat bread.<br />
<br />
While I do feel the price is a bit high for the amount you get, I do think has to be some of the best hummus I've ever had. I would highly recommend. if you enjoy hummus, you order this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2HvC9rk8PS0/UbQWUiTenbI/AAAAAAAAXz8/ezHt7W-xknI/s1600/IMG_8999.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2HvC9rk8PS0/UbQWUiTenbI/AAAAAAAAXz8/ezHt7W-xknI/s640/IMG_8999.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We also ordered the Pot Roast Beef Dip sandwich. The price for this meal is $9.95 and comes with a sandwich of pot roast on a Dutch Crunch Roll, melted mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish cream sauce. Since this is a beef "dip" sandwich you also get a cup of au jus to dip your sandwich in. A side of fries is also included. <br />
<br />
This is a nice hearty sandwich that is more filling then it looks. It is full of flavor and really doesn't need the au jus at all. You can order other sides but be aware, some items cost a bit more and would raise the price of your meal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CST7LHtMEV4/UbQWXbl_CtI/AAAAAAAAX0E/YjGhXFWHnLo/s1600/IMG_9000.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CST7LHtMEV4/UbQWXbl_CtI/AAAAAAAAX0E/YjGhXFWHnLo/s640/IMG_9000.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We ordered the 3 cheese and basil pizza as well. This is a thin crust pizza topped with Parmesan, Romano and Mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce and fresh basil. The price of the pizza is $9.95.<br />
<br />
I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed in the pizza. This seemed to be more of an appetizer pizza, based on the size and thickness of the pizza. <br />
<br />
It also seemed pretty greasy and the crust was limp. I can't really recommend this pizza and I wouldn't order it again.<br />
<br />
Over all I have to say I had a good time but do feel the quality of food has gone down since the last time I was there.<br />
<br />
This place is always pretty crowded and you should expect to wait awhile if you go on a weekend at dinner time.<br />
<br />
It's also a bit loud so don't think you will be able to enjoy a romantic talk while you are there, unless you want everyone around to hear also.<br />
<br />
The Lazy Dog Cafe is a place to go for fun! Go with a group of people and share some good food and laughs. There is a bar and several TVs playing different sports with people clapping and hoping their team makes the next score.<br />
<br />
I will go back here for sure. I'm hoping I was just there on an off night.<br />
<br />
I give The Lazy Dog Cafe 7 out of 10 silver spoons. <br />
<br />
There are several Lazy Dog Cafe locations now. The one I went to is located at 16310 Beach Blvd. in Westminster. It's in the Target Shopping Center near the 405 Fwy.<br />

<br />
If you have never been to the Rainforest Cafe, then you are in for a treat.<br />
<br />
You will find, salt water fish swimming in large aquariums, large animals that come to life as they move and make noise and thunder storms that kick up through out your meal, yet never gets you wet.<br />
<br />
The place is loud though, so don't plan on bringing a date for a romantic dinner. This restaurant is geared more towards families and fun.<br />
<br />
Being a vegetarian, I found that the menu to lack in choices. Other then a few salads and one or two pasta dishes, there wasn't much that could be ordered right off the menu. However, my waitress was more then happy to allow me to order dishes prepared as I liked. <br />
<br />
Every dish is made to order so you can add or take away ingredients as you like.<br />
<br />
I ordered the Cheese Tortellini in an Alfredo sauce.<br />
<br />
When this dish came to me, my first thought was, how pretty! I loved the three different colors of tortellini and how the plate seemed to match.<br />
<br />
As I took my first my first bite, I knew this was going to be a meal I really enjoyed. The Alfredo sauce was not over powering the flavor of the tortellini.<br />
<br />
I could taste the cheese inside the pasta and the sun dried tomatoes. I have to admit, I ordered this without the peas and mushrooms as I'm not a fan of either. If you are, then I would order this dish as it comes listed on the menu.<br />
<br />
While I really enjoyed the pasta and sauce, I wasn't that excited over the slice of bread that comes with the meal. I would rather have a slice of plain french bread or sourdough. <br />
<br />
I would gladly order this again and would recommend it to both vegetarians as well as meat eaters as you can also get this with grilled chicken for only $2.00 more. <br />
<br />
All in all, this was a very satisfying meal and I would give this dish 8 out of 10 silver spoons.Joanne Kennedyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15550534887793382985noreply@blogger.com0
